The Greatest Loop in The Big Apple

Greetings from The Greatest Loop Crew!

Time flies when you're having fun; we're already a quarter of the way through our adventure on the Great Loop! The Swift 34, which departed from Annapolis four weeks ago, has already covered 1,716 nautical miles – sipping 1,286 gallons and averaging about 1.34 nm/gal – and is now approaching Chicago.

Our travels through the New York canals and the Trent-Severn passage have been mostly uneventful (minus a scare near Peterborough, Ontario), and we continue to enjoy fair weather conditions.

Peter Janssen and George Sass Sr. are currently aboard The Greatest Loop, reporting for Power & Motoryacht magazine. They are getting ready for a weekend of events at the Chicago Yacht Club in partnership with Karma Yacht Sales, AIM Marine Group, Raymarine, Cummins, Dometic, Cummins Onan, and ValvTect marine fuels.

To learn more about the sea trials, reception and nighttime navigation experience we've planned for this weekend, please visit www.TheGreatestLoop.com/events.

For any inquiries about our Chicago events, please contact Lou Sandoval from Karma Yachts Sales at 773-254-0200.

On Sunday, the crew will start their journey towards St Louis, Missouri where they will hand off the vessel to a new crew led by Capt. Jeremy Hopkins and John Wooldridge, editor-in-chief of PassageMaker Magazine.
