Day 56: Hilton Head Island to Charleston, SC

We left Hilton Head at 8:45 am, and decided to follow the Intracoastal Waterway, the shortest way to reach Charleston.

We went threw the swamps and enjoyed the wildlife there, even though we did not see any alligators…

We also had to be careful at our speed and do not make any waves in order to respect the wildlife. We particularly appreciated the Bohicket Creek, with its wide range of amazing colors.

We had to cruise carefully, and always keep an eye how deep the river was: sometimes there was no more than 4 ft! We really appreciated using the Raymarine Night Vision Thermal Camera onboard that was definitely helpful [As a side note: Beneteau is putting a video together showing how this tool works stay tuned].

Despite our deep focus on piloting, the Greatest Loop ran really well and we did not meet any difficulties. We arrived in Charleston as scheduled - at 1:45 pm.
