Day 50: Key West to Duck Key, FL

Yesterday, we arrived in Key West to meet Marina Life for the event. Met some great people, and they were all very impressed with the beautiful Greatest Loop Trawler. After the event, we prepared the boat for our trip today.

We were up early and visited a local diner in Key West for breakfast, where a nice couple recognized our Greatest Loop T-Shirts. After some brief conversation, they came back to the boat and we gave them a quick tour. Hopefully we will see them at our Demo Day! We shoved off at Conch Harbor around 9am and began our trip up the east coast just off the keys. The weather was beautiful, and Hawks Channel has some gorgeous views. At around 11:30am we stopped and anchored just off of Little Palm Island for lunch. We took a view dives off the flybridge and we were back underway. Thanks to Marina Life, our dockage was comped at Hawks Cay in Duck Key. Prior to arriving in Duck Key, we moored up on a little reef for a brief snorkel, but the visibility was not very good. Pulling in to Duck Key, we were immediately captivated by her beauty. She is easily one of the least talked about, but most beautiful Key in the chain. Hawks Cay is all the way on the backside of the key, and navigating around the bend, you pass the beautiful resort including the pools and dolphin swimming area.

Once we pulled into Hawks Cay, we were immediately greeted by their welcoming staff. We fueled up and then we were placed in a 108' slip, the best available dockage at the marina! We were up front and center just outside the resorts main restaurant and bar. After getting settled, we opened up the boat to the resorts guest and we were able to show off The Greatest Loop trawler to many admirers.

That night Tyler and I enjoyed the resort, visiting the pool, beach, and delicious restaurant.
