Day 43: Panama City Beach to Dog Island, FL

Departed Panama City Marina at 6:00 am and anchored at Dog Island

Outside run to Port St. Joe, 16 knots, toured Port St. Joe Marina via water. Then had an inside run to Apalachicola, from clear to brown water again? Interesting changes from inland to coastal.

Apalachicola: visited the Apalachicola Maritime Museum then lunch; oysters on the 1/2 shell $6.99 dozen; thought- oysters in the summer (month with no R?), question to waitress "how fresh are the oysters", answer "about an hour". You can watch the oyster farms being harvested from the window. They were perfect.

Slow run from Apalachicola to Carrabelle to try some fishing; hooked a ladyfish, a mackeral and a tarpon but we did not get any of them to sit still enough for a photo. The great staff at the Moorings at Carrabelle helped us fuel up and replace some damaged fishing tackle/lures.

Anchored in a cove on the NW corner of Dog Island for a quick start at first light tomorrow. In our 10 hours run, we burnt 60 gallons of fuel averaging at 6 gal/hr.

Wine selection- No wine tonight, long day tomorrow, crossing to Cedar Key

Best: fishing, hooking Tarpon

Worst: loosing three fish before we could get photos
