Day 41: Pensacola to Sand Destin, FL

Departed Portifino Resort at 10:00 am docked at 5pm at Baytowne Harbor in Sand Destin..

Calm winds made for a peaceful anchorage at Portifino resort. At 8:00 am, we picked up our friends, the Lilly's, for a visit and exploration of "Big Sabine", probably the best protected anchorage on Santa Rosa Sound. Parker Lilly, at 15 months, is currently our youngest visitor.

A quick run to Navarre brought us to a very deep cove south west of the Navarre Bridge. Accessed via la well marked private channel, this is a great place to pick up crew. Public boat launch dock & Juana's Pagodas & sailors grill. We had a great midday cruise with some old friends.

Uneventful run to Destin, beautiful day with clear water at Crab Island where we anchored for a break with 300 of our closest friends. After a tour of Destin Harbor an hours run brought us to Baytowne Harbor in Sand Destin for diesel and a night's slip. An after dinner visit with some Beneteau owners capped the day - wine selection: E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone whiteIn a total of 7 engine hours, we burnt 45 gallons averaging at 6.45 nm/gal.

Best: time aboard the boat

Worst: crowded Crab Island
