Day 38: Bobby's Fish Camp to Fairhope, AL

Capt. Jeremy said that he had no idea of what to expect in flora and fauna along the way, and it has surprised him to see so much thick, lush greenery along the banks and the swimming bobcat was also a big surprise!

For me, the list is huge. I've been privileged to cruise the San Juan and Gulf islands in the Pacific Northwest, explore the East Coast from Maine to Key West, and transit portions of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. I find it all endlessly fascinating, and am glad to finally visit a portion of our country's interiors, known only to me before through American fiction, movies, and tales from other Loopers. The total experience, that's my fascination, warts and all!

I've been tracking Debbie since she was off the Yucatan Peninsula, using Weather Underground, a site I recommend to weather fanatics and boat owners alike. You can give them a look at www.wunderground.com and decide for yourself. It's worth it, to me. When we passed Mile 19 we were encountering our first washboard wind chop in 15-knot winds out of the southwest. The Greatest Loop was running easily through this stuff, and the decks were dry. It has Ben another hot day to run, but with the onset of this wind, which seems to be gusting between 15-18 knots been, that is! Conditions on the flybridge seem much more comfortable.

“Adios from the Crew of The Greatest Loop” – Leg 6: St Louis, MO to Mobile/Fairhope, AL

This has been a terrific, new experience. I want to thank everyone for following our adventure, Maryline of Beneteau for placing her confidence in me, Axel of Beneteau for his terrific job with the logistics, Patrick of AYS for his technical help, and Scribe In Residence JW, for his help, company and for his outstanding work on all of the communications aspects. A Bientot! Jeremy Hopkins – Captain of The Greatest Loop

Capt. Jeremy has put together a safe, enjoyable cruise, and we're on a plane for Annapolis tomorrow. We're looking forward to tracking Stanton Murray and his crew as they move TGL along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway to Key West. Fair winds and calm seas, amigos, and thanks for following our adventures. John Wooldridge – Crew of The Greatest Loop
