Day 28: Seneca to East Peoria, IL

Left Spring Brook Marina in Seneca, IL at 7:50am and docked at Eastport Marina, East Peoria at 4.15pm with 40 plus knot winds.

We stepped the mast this morning and then made 87 miles down the Illinois River to Peoria. The temperature went up to 97 degrees. We had up to 30 plus knot winds on the nose and only two locks really ate up time plus lots of barges also on the way. Then chip ran out on the chartplotter and cannot find the next one inside the boat so we are now using 1992 Army Corps charts. We really hope for less wind tomorrow. River is now broader and browner with lots of greenery lining the shore.

Average speed was around 9 knots, we burnt 65 gallons of diesel giving an overall fuel consumption of 1.33 nm/gal. 224 hours on the Cummins Engine.

Best,

Peter
