Day 24: Leland to Pentwater, MI

We left Leland just after 7am and made about 100 miles to Pentwater by 1:05pm

Wind from 20 to 25 knots, small craft advisory but all’s well that ends well. We cruised at 15 plus knots but at one point after wind clocked behind we surfed down a big wave at 18 knots on the GPS. Entrance here a narrow channel between two rocky breakwaters and definitely got my attention in a snarly following sea.

Unfortunately we will not be crossing Lake Michigan tomorrow to get to Milwaukee but will stay on this side and go to Saugatuck, MI. We hit some challenging weather and do not want to repeat that tomorrow. We will then head for Chicago on Thursday.

We burnt 84 gal which gives us a fuel consumption of around 1.19 nm/gal. We filled fuel tank with 134.6 gallons at our arrival and the total engine hours is now 191H.

Best
