Day 3: Atlantic City, NJ to New York, NY

Underway at 6:30am

Docked at 2:30pm

Clear skies, but strong wind 15-20 knots, settled to 15 later in the day. Mostly hugged the NJ shore into the city.

I knew things would be a little different today when I saw Patrick put away the cushions of the cockpit bench before we left, and move the microwave down into a cabin. While underway, I managed to take a nap while our captain concentrated on navigating. I was no use anyway, a little too bumpy to do anything. Luckily it wasn't all that bad and it settled down after a little while.

Fueled at the Liberty Landing Marina, a certified ValvTect marina located just across the river from Manhattan -- ValvTect marinas dispense premium marine diesel designed to optimize your engine life and improve fuel efficiency. You can learn more here.

The staff at the fuel dock was super friendly, it was a warm and sunny day -- the perfect day to arrive into NYC, rest up and clean up the boat.

Steve and his wife Julia left us to return to DC, while Patrick and I headed to the Chelsea Pier Brewery just beside Surfside 3 Marina for a bite. We then learned there was no shower facility on premises... Looks like we're becoming real boaters, taking showers on their boat!

Marc Fleury from the French publication Moteur Boat has just caught up with us (freshly arrived from Paris!) and is spending the week-end here in NYC with The Greatest Loop.

Starting early tomorrow, with a photo shoot... Up at 5am, and shooting from about 6 to 8am if the weather continues to cooperate.

Between Annapolis & NYC, we've estimated 314nm, 245 Gal. so about 1.28nm/ Gal. Patrick needs to check the instruments to read average speed. I'd say around 13 knots.

We will be changing crew this week-end, before heading up to Albany... But before that, Cape Yachts and Beneteau welcome you to New York City to check out the boat, and maybe come along for a sea trial? Come find us at 59 Chelsea Pier, Surfside 3 Marina, NY. The boat will be open from 11 to 4pm, sea trials tentative from 4 to 6pm and a little happy hour to conclude (both Friday and Saturday).

See you there!
