Day 1: Annapolis, MD to Rock Hall, MD

On our first day, departure from Annapolis city dock at Pusser's:

Underway 7:10pm.

Moored 8:30pm.

30nm under fair skies, calm seas, and an elongated sunset which ended just before we entered Haven Harbor. Turmoil with civil twilight.

We enjoyed some great French wine (a white from Tourraine!) and creamy goat cheese brought on by Steve and his wife, only to be rivaled by animated conversations about the dilemma of uneducated boaters and the perils of navigating the waters around Manhattan (as it turns out Steve wrote about this very topic for Sounding at the end of last year; though I've lived myself in NYC and bring in some Coast Guard experience, his knowledge will certainly come in handy as we expect to arrive in NYC Thursday around 5pm. You can read Steve's article right here).

Our plans are to rise just after 5am so we call pull of the dock between 5:30 and 6am.

Crew on board: Patrick Hopkins (Capt)  from Annapolis Yacht Sales. Steve & Julia Blakely (contributing for Soundings magazine). Maryline O'Shea from Beneteau.
