George Sass, Sr

After running his advertising agency for 30 years with offices in Annapolis, New York and Europe, George Sass, Sr. began a new career as a photojournalist for the marine industry. Over 100 of his stories have appeared in such magazines as Yachting, Motorboating, Soundings, Power Cruising, Passagemaker, Southern Boating, Chesapeake Bay Magazine and Boating Digest.  Several of his stories have won writing awards from the Boat Writers International organization, and his photography has appeared on the covers of a number of leading publications as well in national advertising campaigns.

His magazine assignments have taken him to Alaska, Mexico, the Galapagos Islands, China, the Bahamas, Scotland and Iceland as well as along many of America’s favorite waterways.

Sass completed the Great Loop in his own boat, a custom-built Thomas Point 43, in 2003.

He is currently aboard Beneteau’s “Greatest Loop,” serving as Power & Motoryacht’s photographer for the Michigan to Missouri leg.  He lives in Annapolis, Maryland with his wife, a high school art teacher and water colorist.  When not busy writing or teaching, they cruise extensively on their 26-foot TomCat power catamaran.
